On Friday the 24th of February we were delighted to volunteer our services to assist in the decommissioning and removal of the existing air conditioning units from the TS Queen Mary.
The famous ship is going to be permanently berthed on the River Clyde and will be one of the UK’s largest interactive maritime exhibits, providing an unparalleled way of learning about our maritime and social history.
As well as a museum, the Queen Mary will be one of Scotland’s most unusual dining, wedding, corporate function, concert and arts venues. But before all of this is achievable, there is an extensive revamp required. This is where Friends of TS Queen Mary, B-DACS and other local companies come in.
Friends of TS Queen Mary was formed in 2012 to safeguard the future of TS Queen Mary, the Clyde’s last and Britain’s finest turbine excursion steamer. Their aim is to renew TS Queen Mary and return her to a new permanent berth on the River Clyde.
“The Clyde will give new life to TS Queen Mary and she – in return – can help give new life to the Clyde.”

Director: “B-DACS were delighted to have been able to volunteer our services to work on such a fascinating project and find out more about the restoration plans as well as getting our team together. We were involved in removing the existing R22 air conditioning kit, which facilitated the need for the ship to retain its original 1933 appearance. As we all know there were no Daikin condensers in 1933. As a company, we look forward to seeing the fully restored version of the TS Queen Mary and it becoming a welcomed addition to the existing attractions of our City”
