Did you know that Scotland has the highest number of Golf courses per capita currently sitting at one course per 9,379 people, so it is no surprise that with the Golf open and the Scottish Open coming up this summer B-DACS have been involved in the work that is currently being undertaken to prepare for these events.

We thought we would take the opportunity to make you aware of what we have been working on to get the facilities in Scotland ready to host these events.

Gullane – The Scottish Open

Gullane Golf Club are honoured to be hosting the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open in 2015 from the 9th – 12th July. The tournament was first played in 1972 and has been held at a number of prestigious courses including, Downfield, St Andrews, Haggs Castle, Gleneagles, Carnoustie, Loch Lomond, Castle Stuart and Royal Aberdeen before moving to its current home at Gullane Golf Club. B-DACS have been involved in this project by installing air conditioning within the clubs bar area to ensure that players and spectators would be comfortable whilst enjoying their beverages at the event.

St Andrews – The Open

The Open Championship returns to the Old Course at St Andrews “The Home of Golf” which will be the 144th Open Championship, held on the 16th – 19th July 2015. This year’s event will be the twenty-ninth Open Championship played at the Old Course at St Andrews, the most recent was in 2010, were Louis Oosthuizen won his first Open Championship title and his first major of any kind, it was also the first and only occasion that a South African has won the Open Championship at St Andrews. Due to the increase in tourism that The Open Championship will bring to the area, The British Golf Museum has gained planning permission to build an 80 seat cafe on the roof of its award winning building. B-DACS were delighted to have fitted air conditioning systems into the building within the server room of the cafe. The museum is due to re-open to the public in June 2015 just in time for The Open starting.

So as you can imagine this has been bitter sweet for our Director Brian, who has been managing these projects and getting to spend time on these lovely courses but without the clubs! Never mind Brian maybe one day!
